MIT and Engines Plus join forces to bring diverse electric propulsion solutions to market!

With over ten years of experience as a key supplier of engines to UK maritime markets, Engine Plus has firmly established itself as the market leader of marine propulsion. However, with sustainability becoming more focused and the growing need for ‘future proofing’ businesses, they knew they had to diversify their product portfolio and bring a greener solution to support their existing product offering.

UK and Eire distributors for Sole Diesel, Engines Plus, discovered that Sole was using Bellmarine and Transfluid electric propulsion, which ignited the idea of how this technology could be combined with Engines Plus marine generators to deliver an OEM range of series hybrid solutions.

A new route to market

As a partner and official reseller of Bellmarine, MIT had an established supply route to market for commercial vessels and saw the opportunity for a partnership with Engines Plus to serve the leisure marine sector. Similarly, Engines Plus had identified this development in technology and growth in the electric market. With their extensive knowledge of the leisure market, a partnership with MIT was formed.

Both companies realised that each could benefit from successful contract wins across several market sectors through combined efforts while serving the marine markets with industry-leading electric propulsion technology.

Hedley Beavis, Managing Director, Engines Plus Ltd, said, “We have been looking for a partner for the electric drive systems for a while now, and believe the Bellmarine system is the ideal partner to grow our business. With Sole Diesel already having an agreement direct with Bellmarine, this made a logical choice to partner with MIT, the distributor for Bellmarine. I believe we both have strengths in each sector, which only grow the brand, as  move towards more hybrid power solutions”.

Thomas Binns, Sales and Marketing Manager, MIT, said, “MIT is proud to be working in partnership with Engines Plus, a longstanding and trusted supplier in the inland and leisure marine sector. Jointly, we look forward to providing future-proof solutions and supporting vessel owners as they transition from traditional diesel power to sustainable hybrid / electric propulsion”.

Showcasing Technology

The technology will be showcased at Crick Boat Show from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5th June, and then at the Southampton Boat Show from Friday 16th September to Sunday 25th September. The team will be on hand to show visitors the benefits of electric propulsion and discuss funding solutions.
